Fountain is a town in El Paso County , in the US state of Colorado , as Home Rule Municipality is run. According to the 2010 US Census , 25,846 people live here. The catchment area of the city is 36.3 km².

Fountain is located in central Colorado at an elevation of 1,690 m. The city is about 10 miles south of Colorado Springs , just off Interstate 25 .
history
The place was founded in 1859 at a loading station for goods from the area. The name was given to the 120 kilometer long river Fountain Creek .
