Frades is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .

Frades belongs to the Póvoa de Lanhoso district in the Braga district . The community had an area of ​​4.2 km² and 270 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Frades and Calvos were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Calvos e Frades .
