The Frammuseum ( Norwegian Frammuseet ) is a museum in Oslo, Norway .

It is located on the Bygdøy peninsula in Oslo. Nearby are the Kon-Tiki Museum , the Norsk Folkemuseum (Norwegian Folk Museum), the Viking Ship Museum ( Vikingskipshuset ) and the Norwegian Maritime Museum ( Norsk Maritimt Museum ).

The museum opened on May 20, 1936. The museum is dedicated to the history of the Norwegian polar exploration trips, especially the three great Norwegian polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen , Otto Sverdrup and Roald Amundsen . The museum also contains pictures of the fauna of the polar regions, such as polar bears and penguins . The research ship Fram forms the center of the museum . Visitors can view the ship, which has been furnished with the original interior. There the three polar journeys of the Framshown; there is also an extensive exhibition on the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Since May 2009 the Framuseum has also been showing the exhibition on Gjøa , with which Amundsen was the first to cross the long sought-after Northwest Passage .
