The Vikingskipshuset ( German  Viking Ship House ) is a Norwegian museum in Oslo .

The museum is dedicated to the archaeological Viking ship finds from Tune , Gokstadt ( Sandefjord ), Oseberg ( Tønsberg ) and the Borre cemetery in Horten ( Vestfold ). The main attractions of the museum are the Gokstad ship , the Oseberg ship and the Tuneschiff . The museum also contains various items from the Viking Age such as beds, horse carts, tent components, buckets and grave supplements.

The museum was founded in 1913 by the Swedish university professor Gabriel Gustafson . An architectural competition for the museum took place, which the architect Arnstein Arneberg won. The building of the museum was financially supported by the Norwegian state. A new building three times the size is planned, which will not only represent the ships, but also the everyday life of the Vikings.
