Bygdøy or Bygdø (before 1877 it was called Ladegaardsøen ) is a peninsula in the Oslofjord and a district of Oslo . The peninsula has served many Osloers as a recreational area since the 19th century .

Geographical location and connection

Bygdøy is bounded to the east by Frognerkilen and to the west by Lysakerfjord and its northeastern extension, Bestumkilen.

In the summer months a passenger ferry runs between Oslo's “Rådhuskaien” (Rathauskai) and Bygdøy.

On the southern side of the peninsula, the so-called "Huk", there are several smaller beaches and bathing areas, including a nudist beach.
