François II d'Orléans-Longueville
François II. D'Orléans (* 1478 ; † February 12, 1513 in Châteaudun ) was the first Duke of Longueville . He was the eldest son of François I. d'Orléans , Count of Longueville etc. from the House of Orléans-Longueville , and Agnes of Savoy († 1509), daughter of Ludwig , Duke of Savoy , ( House of Savoy ).
With the death of his father in 1491 he moved up in his title: Count of Longueville, Count of Dunois , Count of Tancarville , Count of Montgommery and Vice-Count of Melun . He himself acquired the offices of Grand Chamberlain of France (1504–1512) and Governor of Guyenne . In May 1505 he was by King Ludwig XII. appointed Duke of Longueville.
Shortly before his appointment as Duke, on April 6, 1505, he married in Blois Françoise d'Alençon (* winter 1490/91), daughter of René , Duke of Alençon , from the House of Valois-Alençon . François and Françoise had two children, a son who died at the age of one and a daughter who outlived her father but was only seven years old:
- Renée, b.1508; † May 2, 1515, 1513 4th Countess of Dunois, Tancarville and Montgommery, Dame de Montreuil-Bellay , de Château-Renault etc.
- Jacques, * probably 1511; † probably 1512, buried in the Sainte-Madeleine Abbey in Châteaudun
The title of duke remained vacant from 1513 to 1515. In 1515 Louis d'Orléans , the brother of François, who had been sovereign Count of Neuchâtel since 1504 and 1513 , inherited from his brother and niece.
François II. D'Orléans died at the age of 35 and was buried in the Notre-Dame church in Cléry-Saint-André , just as King Louis XI had done before him in 1483 . Françoise d'Alençon survived him by 37 years; In 1513 she married Charles IV. de Bourbon, duc de Vendôme († 1537), and died on September 14, 1550 at La Flèche Castle , after she had been appointed Duchess of Beaumont in September 1543.
