François Lanusse
François Lanusse (born November 3, 1772 in Habas , † March 21, 1801 at Canopus , Egypt ) was a French Général de division .
Life
In 1792 Lanusse joined the army and fought the following year under the command of General Jacques François Dugommier in the Pyrenees . Lanusse was promoted several times through courage and bravery.
He joined Napoleon's campaign in Egypt in 1798 . Alongside General Jacques-François Menou , he fought at Canopus (March 21, 1801) and was seriously wounded. The doctor Dominique Jean Larrey had to amputate his right leg, but Dery succumbed to his injuries on the night of March 21st to 22nd.
Honors
His name can be found on the southern pillar (25th column) of the triumphal arch on Place Charles-de-Gaulle ( Paris ).
