François-Nicolas Fririon
François-Nicolas Fririon (born February 7, 1766 in Vandières , Lorraine , † September 25, 1840 ) was a French Général de division .
Life
At sixteen, Fririon joined the French army in 1782 and quickly made a career. At the beginning of the revolution he was already an officer and in 1796 he was promoted to Général de brigade .
In the coalition wars, Fririon fought in Switzerland and later switched to the Italian Army and Barthélemy Louis Joseph Schérer with his own command . After another promotion, he became Chief of Staff to General Jacques Maurice Hatry . As such he fought u. a. near Verona (March 26, 1799) and Magnano (April 5, 1799).
In 1799 Fririon moved to the Rhine Army under General Jean-Victor Moreau and was a. a. involved in the Battle of Hohenlinden (December 3, 1800).
From 1807 Fririon was commanded to war in Spain . He was assigned to Marshal André Masséna's chief of staff and was involved in the siege of Almeida in July and August 1810. He also fought in the Battle of Buçaco (September 27, 1810) and the Battle of Fuentes de Oñoro (May 3-5, 1811).
