François Ruchon (born September 18, 1897 in Geneva ; † May 17, 1953 ibid) was a Swiss Romance scholar and historian.

life and work

Ruchon, whose father was French, studied in Geneva. He received his doctorate in 1923 with the work Jules Laforgue (1860-1887). Sa vie. Son œuvre (Geneva 1924). Ruchon was a high school teacher in Geneva and a private lecturer at the University of Geneva .

He was politically active in the Geneva Radical Party, was its deputy chairman from 1943 and published its press organ Le Genevois from 1945 .

A street in Geneva is named after him.
