François Antoine Philippe Henri Freiherr Zorn von Bulach (born July 5, 1828 , † April 14, 1890 ) was a French politician and squire.

Life

He was a landowner in Osthouse . In 1857 he was treasurer of Napoleon III. He represented ultra-royalist positions. 1863 to January 1864 and again from 1869-1870 he was a deputy of the Bas-Rhin department as chambellan de l'Empereur.

After the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, Maximilian von Puttkamer asked, on behalf of Bismarck, whether Zorn von Bulach would be available for tasks in the new realm of Alsace-Lorraine . Anger von Bulach referred to his loyalty to the French state and refused. In March 1876 he gave an immediate lecture to the emperor in which he outlined his political ideas for the Reichsland. He envisioned an independent constitutional monarchy modeled on the other southern German states with its own monarch.

Without prejudice to his pro-French stance, he was elected to the state committee , to which his son Hugo belonged after him.

From July 1853 to August 1891 he was mayor of Osthouse. The office was often held by family members in the 19th century: from 1821 to 1823 his grandfather, Antoine Joseph Zorn von Bulach , then his father Ernest Maximilien Zorn von Bulach was mayor several times. In 1891 he was followed by his son Hugo Zorn von Bulach in the mayor's office. Another son, Franz Zorn von Bulach , became auxiliary bishop in Strasbourg.

François Zorn von Bulach was married to Antoinette, born Freiin von Reinbach-Hirtzbach.
