François de Ribaupierre

François de Ribaupierre (* 1972 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , clarinet ).

De Ribaupierre studied clarinet, saxophone and arrangement / composition at the Cologne University of Music and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels . In the course of his career he performed a. a. with Michael Brecker , Dave Liebman , Benny Golson and Buster Williams . De Ribaupierre, who lives in Cologne, works in various bands and ensembles, such as the Cologne Saxophone 5tet, Terrence Ngassa Afro Ethno Sextet ( Ngassalogy Vol. 2 , 2008), Oktoposse ( Geht Fremd , 2006), Dirk Bell Gramophonics and in Big Band Convention. In addition, he leads his own projects like thatFrançois de Ribaupierre Trio and the François de Ribaupierre 4tet ( Shades of Silence , TCB, 2008) as well as the jazz literature event series Carambolage im Bogen 2 , for which he composes and arranges. De Ripaupierre also worked with Rupert Stamm and the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra ( Odyssey , 2012), which came from the u. a. with the formation Volles Rohr founded by Christian Torkewitz . In 2015 he played in a duo with Taiko Saito , and in 2018 at the “Dachshund Concert” of the WDR Big Band .
