Frances Clytie Rivett-Carnac (born May 16, 1874 in Port Elizabeth , South Africa as Frances Greenstock , † January 1, 1962 in London ) was a British sailor .
successes
Frances Rivett-Carnac was in 1908 in London at the Olympic Games in the 7-meter class Olympic champion . Since the Heroine , whose owner and skipper was her husband Charles Rivett-Carnac, was the only boat to take part in the competition after the withdrawal of the only competing boat, it was enough for her to cross the finish line in two races for overall victory. The Heroine crew also included Norman Bingley and Richard Dixon . The Rivett-Carnacs were the first couple to win the gold medal together. Her great-granddaughter Cleone Rivett-Carnac won international medals as a track and field athlete.
