Francesca Ferlaino

Francesca Ferlaino (* 23. December 1977 in Naples ) is Italian physicist with research interests nuclear physics , experimental physics , and quantum mechanics and since 2006 at the University of Innsbruck operates.

Life

Ferlaino was born in Naples in 1977. From 1996 until her diploma in 2000, she studied at the University of Naples Federico II . Originally, she wanted to study philosophy , but after visiting a professor, she decided to study physics, even though she had no basic knowledge of natural sciences. She received her PhD in 2004 from the Università degli Studi di Firenze . In 2006 she emigrated to Austria .

Ferlaino turned down an Alexander von Humboldt professorship at Ulm University in 2014 . She has been a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2011 . She works at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information .
