Lee Marrow (Francesco Bontempi, born July 23, 1957 in Marina di Carrara ) is an Italian DJ and singer who was successful during the Italo disco wave in the mid-1980s . His biggest hit was Shanghai in 1985 .
biography
Francesco Bontempi began his musical career in 1970 as a drummer in various local groups. From 1974 he worked as a DJ in Italian clubs, which made him more and more famous. So it came to a record deal as Lee Marrow in the mid-1980s .
The single Shanghai , produced by Severo Lombardonis Lombardoni Edizioni Musicali , made it into the top 10 in Germany and Switzerland as well as in the Austrian top 20 . The follow-up single Sayonara (Don't Stop) only made it to the chart in Germany (24th place). Pain and Movin '/ Pain reached the lower echelons of the English charts in 1990 . There were no further commercial successes.
Lee Marrow released various singles and best-of albums until 1993. In 1994 Bontempi with the Brazilian Olga de Souza , the duo Corona , whose single The Rhythm of the Night , a number one hit in Italy and a top 10 hit in many other countries of Europe was.
