Francesco Leonetti

Francesco Leonetti (born January 27, 1924 in Cosenza , † December 17, 2017 in Milan ) was an Italian writer and poet who was part of the Italian Neoavanguardia , a literary movement of the sixties. He last lived in Milan.

Life

After studying philosophy, Leonetti taught the history of philosophy and headed the Biblioteca Malatestiana in Cesena . From 1971 he was a lecturer in aesthetics in Brera .

With Pier Paolo Pasolini and Roberto Roversi he founded the magazine Officina in 1955 . After they were hired in 1959, he worked with Elio Vittorini and Italo Calvino on the cultural magazine Il Menabò and experimented with new literary formats in the ambience of Neoavanguardia .

In Pier Paolo Pasolini's The First Gospel - Matthew , he took on the role of Herod Antipas . In 1966 he worked with Pasolini on his film Big Birds, Little Birds , in which he took over the narration.

From 1967 Leonetti was politically active in the extreme left, founded the magazine Che fare in 1968 and joined the Italian Communist Party .

He joined the editorial team of Alfabeta magazine in the 1980s and eventually founded Campo magazine in the late 1990s .
