Francesco Saverio Bianchi ( Francesco Saverio Maria Bianchi ; born December 2, 1743 in Arpino , Campania, Italy , † January 31, 1815 in Naples ) was an Italian monk and mystic who became known as the "Apostle of Naples".

Life

Francesco Saverio Bianchi entered the Order of Barnabites (formerly known as the Congregation of Regular Clergy of St. Paul) in 1762 . As Barnabit he was active in the education of young people and in pastoral care .

As a professor and member of the Academy of Science in Naples , he taught rhetoric and philosophy first in Arpino and then in Naples. Later Bianchi took care of the sick and the poor more and more, he had prophetic gifts and the gift of doing miracles .

Canonization

Francesco Saverio Bianchi was beatified in 1893 and canonized in 1951.
