Francis Ysidro Edgeworth
Francis Ysidro Edgeworth (born February 8, 1845 in Edgeworthstown , County Longford , Ireland , † February 13, 1926 in Oxford , Oxfordshire, England) was an Irish economist.
Edgeworth represented the idea of the progressive tax , which he - like Arthur Cecil Pigou - justified with the decreasing marginal utility of income . Both the Edgeworth Box and the Edgeworth Tax Paradox were named after him. In 1907 he was awarded the Guy Medal in gold by the Royal Statistical Society for his work . Since 1903 he was a member ( fellow ) of the British Academy .
