Francis Kinloch

Francis Kinloch (born March 7, 1755 in Charleston , Province of South Carolina , †  February 8, 1826 ibid) was an American politician . In 1780 he was a delegate for South Carolina at the Continental Congress .

Career

Francis Kinloch was initially taught by private tutors. Between 1768 and 1774 he then graduated from Eton College in England . After completing a law degree in London , he was admitted to the bar. He initially stayed in Europe and studied in Paris and Geneva . He only returned to America in 1778, where he took part in the War of Independence as a captain on the American side . In 1779 and between 1786 and 1788 he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives . In 1780 he represented his state in the Continental Congress. In 1788 he was a delegate to the Assembly that created the United States Constitutionratified for South Carolina. A year later he was a councilor ( Warden ) and justice of the peace in Charleston. Also in 1789 he was a member of the State Legislative Council ; In 1790 he was a member of a constitutional convention of his state. Francis Kinloch was a successful rice planter on his Kensington plantation in the Georgetown District of South Carolina. He died in Charleston on February 8, 1826.
