James Kinsey

James Kinsey (born March 22, 1731 in Philadelphia , Province of Pennsylvania , †  January 4, 1803 in Burlington , New Jersey ) was an American lawyer and politician . In 1774 and 1775 he was a delegate for New Jersey to the Continental Congress .

Career

James Kinsey attended public schools in his home country. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1753, he began to work in this profession in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, both of which were still part of the British Crown at the time. His main residence was in Burlington. There he also embarked on a political career. Between 1772 and 1775 he sat in the colonial House of Representatives. In the 1770s he joined the revolutionary movement. In 1774 and 1775 he was a member of the Committee of Correspondence for Burlington. At the same time he represented New Jersey in the Continental Congress. From November 20, 1789, James Kinsey was Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court . He died on January 4, 1803 in his home town of Burlington.
