Francis Paul McHugh

Francis Paul McHugh SFM (born August 21, 1924 in Woodslee , † May 6, 2003 ) was a Canadian religious and prelate of Itacoatiara in Brazil .

Life

Francis Paul McHugh joined the congregation at the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society and received on 8 December 1954, the priestly ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 20, 1965 as the first prelate of the territorial prelature Itacoatiara established two years earlier . On August 4, 1967, he was appointed titular bishop of Legis Volumni . The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Sebastiano Baggio , donated him episcopal ordination on October 3 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Benjamin Ibberson Webster , Bishop of Peterborough , and Kenneth Roderick Turner SFM, Bishop of Lishui .

He attended the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . He resigned from his office on July 15, 1972.
