Francis Santana

Juan Francisco Santana (born June 20, 1929 in Santo Domingo , † January 11, 2014 ibid) was a Dominican singer .

Life

The son of a popular singer became a member of Carlos Taylor's trio in 1943 , with whom he had his first radio appearances on the radio station HIT. The following year he appeared with Paco Escribano on the radio program for the National Lottery. In 1947 he became a singer in Antonio Morel's Antillana Orchestra , with whom he recorded his first Merengue Límpiate el bozo on record the following year .

In 1951 he received a contract with the radio station La Voz Dominicana . In 1953 he became a member of Napoleón Zayas ' orchestra Ciudad Trujillo , with whom he performed on Curaçao and Aruba. In the following year he became singer with the orchestra of Rafael Solano , 1956-57 he appeared with the Orquesta Angelita of the broadcaster La Voz Dominicana . In the 1960s he worked with Solano in Santo Domigo.

In addition to several LPs, Santana released singles such as El amor y la ventura , Ansias , Que llore and Te puedo perdonar . With Antonio Morel, he recorded Salve de San Cristóbal by Enriquillo Sánchez , Lamento náufrago by Rafael Campos Miranda and the Haitian folk song Massá Massá , with singer Rafael Colón La bayamesa , Noche de ronda , Tú lo sabes and other pieces.
