Francis Wemyss-Charteris, 9th Earl of Wemyss

Francis Wemyss-Charteris, 9th Earl of Wemyss, 5th Earl of March (born August 14, 1796 - January 1, 1883 ) was a Scottish peer .

He was the eldest son of Francis Douglas, 8th Earl of Wemyss and his wife Margaret Campbell. When his father died in 1853, he inherited his title of nobility. With the subordinate title Baron Wemyss , bestowed on his father in 1821 , a hereditary seat in the House of Lords was connected.

1827-1830 he was Grand Master of the Freemasons - Grand Lodge of Scotland. From 1853 to 1880 he served as Lord Lieutenant of Peeblesshire .

On August 22, 1817, he married Louisa Bingham, daughter of Richard Bingham, 2nd Earl of Lucan, in Paris . They had six children:
