Francisca Pizarro Yupanqui (born December 28, 1534 in Jauja , New Castile Governorate ; died 1598 in Trujillo , Spain ) was the daughter of the Conquistador en Francisco Pizarro and the Inca princess Inés Huaylas Yupanqui (Quispe Sisa) . She is considered the first mesticine in Peru .

Life

Francisca Pizarro Yupanqui was born on December 28, 1534 as the first daughter of Francisco Pizarro and Inés Huaylas Yupanqui. Her mother Inés was born Quispe Sisa and was a daughter of the Sapa Inka Huayna Cápac . Her half-brother Atahualpa offered her as a wife to Francisco Pizarro during his imprisonment in order to appease the Spaniards and to free them. Francisca had a brother, Gonzalo, who died in 1544. By a royal decree of October 12, 1537, Pizarro's two illegitimate children were recognized as legitimate descendants.

In 1552 Francisca married her uncle Hernando Pizarro and lived with him in La Mota Castle near Medina del Campo , where Pizarro was imprisoned because of his connection with the execution of Diego de Almagro . After nine years, Pizarro was released and he and his wife moved to Trujillo in Extremadura . The couple had five children, two of whom died young in La Mota.

After Pizarro's death in 1578, Francisca married Pedro Arias Dávila Portocarretero. She died in Trujillo at the age of 63.
