Francisco Costa (fashion designer)
Francisco Costa (born May 10, 1961 in Minas Gerais , Brazil ) is a Brazilian fashion designer living in the USA .
Life
After finishing school in Guarani , Minas Gerais , Costa went to the United States in New York City in 1981 . There he studied at Hunter College and took evening classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology . Costa then got a job with Herbert Rounick in Manhattan , whose company made women's dresses for Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass . After Rounick's death, Costa worked for the fashion designer Oscar de la Renta for the next five years. He then created women's fashion at Gucci under Tom Ford . In 2001 Costa moved to the US company Calvin Klein , where he was promoted to Creative Director of the Calvin Klein Collection women's catwalk line in 2003 . With the arrival of Raf Simons at Calvin Klein in 2016, Costa left the company. In 2018 Costa launched its own personal care brand, Costa Brazil .
Costa has lived in New York City with horse trainer John DeStefano for over 14 years.
