Francisco Javier Vidarte
Francisco "Paco" Javier Vidarte Fernández (born March 1, 1970 in Seville , † January 29, 2008 in Madrid ) was a Spanish philosopher , writer and committed LGBT activist.
biography
After studying philosophy (degree from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (UPC) in Madrid), psychoanalysis (master's degree, University Complutense Madrid ) and a degree in pedagogy (Certificado de Aptitud Pedagógica (CAP), UPC / Madrid), he obtained his degree on 27 November 1998 a doctorate in philosophy from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Madrid with a thesis on Jacques Derrida .
Since the mid-1990s, Paco Vidarte was an active member of the Spanish, particularly Madrid, gay movement. He was initially a member of the “Radical Gai” gay movement and later became one of the leading thinkers and theorists of the Spanish LGBT movement. He was the first to bring the subject of Teoría Queer (Queer Theory) to the university and published various internationally acclaimed books and articles on both Derrida and LGBT.
At UNED he held a chair in the Philosophical Department of the Philosophical Faculty from 2002 until his death. He died as a result of HIV infection and lymph cancer in Madrid.

“If something like an LGTBQ ethic is conceivable and desirable, it would have to start from the fact that the fight against homophobia cannot take place in isolation, independently of other social injustices and discrimination, but that the fight against homophobia can only take place within a common constellation Solidarity struggle against any kind of oppression, exclusion, persecution and discrimination is possible and actually effective.
