Francisco Rada

Francisco "Pacho" Rada Bautista (born May 11, 1907 in Las Mulas, Plato , Magdalena , Colombia , † July 17, 2003 in Santa Marta , Colombia) was a Colombian accordion player , composer and singer .

Many of his compositions are now played by various pop groups in Colombia and are considered classics across the country. Rada is considered to be the inventor of the "Son", one of the four Vallenato rhythms. His life is portrayed in the film El Acordeón del Diablo (director: Stefan Schwietert , D / CH 2000).

Francisco Rada inspired Gabriel García Márquez to write the character of the troubadour "Francisco El Hombre" in his novel One Hundred Years of Solitude .
