Francisco de Xerez
Francisco de Xerez (* 1504 in Seville , † around 1547 in Seville) was a Spanish chronicler during the Renaissance .
Life
Francisco de Xerez was born in Andalusia , came to the New World at a young age and in 1524 joined Francisco Pizarro on his conquest of Peru . Xerez served during the conquest of the Inca Empire as a soldier and scribe (1531–33). In 1534 he returned to Spain . His book Verdadera relación de la conquista del Perú ( True Report of the Conquest of Peru ) was published in Seville that same year . The work was soon translated into Italian and then into other languages and did a lot to spread the myth of the fabulous wealth of the Incas.
