Franck Tanasi (born December 20, 1959 in Fort-de-France , Martinique ) is a former French football player and later coach .

Career

Tanasi was six years old when he moved with his parents from Martinique to Paris in metropolitan France. In the state capital, he first played rugby before turning to football. In 1976 he was accepted into the reserve team of the professional club Paris Saint-Germain ; Although he came to two appearances in the top French league in the following years, but he could not establish himself in the professional selection, so he was awarded in 1979 to the second division Paris FC . Because the loan went well thanks to regular assignments, it was extended from one to two years. When Tanasi should return to Saint-Germain in 1981, he was awarded for another season to the also second-rate US Orléans .

After his final return in 1982, coach Georges Peyroche at Saint-Germain relied on him, but did not place him in midfield as before, but on the left defensive side. He reached the cup final in 1983 and thanks to a 3-2 win against FC Nantes, the first title of his career. When his competitor Philippe Col left the club in the same year, Tanasi became a regular player. Due to physical problems and the commitment of the defender Claude Lowitz , he lost this in the following years, however, in part. In 1987 he won the French championship for the first and only time in his career . Then, with Pierre Bianconi, a new competitor was committed, but Tanasi was able to prevail, whereupon he maintained his regular place permanently. He finally gave it up voluntarily when he ended his professional career in 1991 at the age of 31 after 215 first division games without a goal and 66 second division games with two goals.

He remained in the football business through an engagement with an amateur club near Paris and was brought back in 1992 by his now third-rate former club Paris FC. For this Tanasi ran for a year before he finally ended his career. He then worked as an amateur trainer for various clubs and as a talent scout for his ex-club Saint-Germain. In addition, in 1999 he received a post as managing director of a construction and cleaning company. Later he was first coach of the U-16 youth of the Burkinabe national team and then took over the post of assistant coach for the first team.
