Franco Solinas
Franco Solinas (born January 19, 1927 in Cagliari , Sardinia , † September 14, 1982 in Fiumicino , Latium ) was an Italian writer and screenwriter.
Life
Solinas was active as a screenwriter since the early 1950s. He was a Marxist and as such had a “part in the politicization of the Spaghetti Western”. In total, he was involved in more than 20 productions. He also co-wrote the script for The Haunted Sierra Madre .
In 1969 he and Gillo Pontecorvo were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Original Screenplay for the screenplay for Battle of Algiers .
