Frank A. Tuttle
Frank A. Tuttle , also Frank Tuttle (born November 15, 1905 in Pennsylvania , † August 6, 1969 in Glendale , California ) was an American outfitter for Hollywood films .
Life
Frank Tuttle called himself Frank A. Tuttle for large parts of his career in order not to be confused with the much better known film director of the same name .
Little is known about the early years of Tuttle, who came from the American east coast; as early as the 1930 census he was listed as resident in Los Angeles . With the beginning of the 1940s he can be verified as an outfitter in the service of Columbia Pictures , but apart from an unnamed job in 1967 for the Gregory Peck film The Great Silent , Tuttle never worked as a film architect (production designer). He received an Oscar nomination for three of his works ( 1001 nights , you called him King and Guess Who Comes to Dinner ) .
In his three decades of activity, Tuttle has equipped over 140 films of all popular genres; Since the early 1950s, he has had numerous engagements for popular television series such as Rin-Tin-Tin, Father is the Best, Underwater Adventures and My Three Sons . Tuttle died while filming William Wyler's latest film, The Embers of Violence . Frank A. Tuttle was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills) cemetery.
