Frank Beetson junior

Frank Beetson junior , born as Frank Cazzeau Beetson , (born June 30, 1905 in Rye , New York , United States , † June 2, 1990 in Riverside , California , ibid) was an American costume designer and costume consultant.

Life

Similar to his colleague Richard Bruno , Beetson had come into contact with the film industry at an early stage as a long-term employee at Western Costume, the largest costume rental company in the USA based in Hollywood . In this context, Beetson has advised numerous film productions on costume selection since the early sound film years, including "Unter Zwei Flags" (1936), Duel in der Sonne (1946), The Paradin Case (1947), The Hero of Mindanao (1950) and numerous others other. After he had put together the wardrobe for John Wayne for the first time at The Black Falcon in 1955 , a long-term friendship developed between him and the western star, which found expression in further collaborations: Wayne also wore a selection of Beetson costumes for The Last Order , Alamo , Hatari! and MacLintock . Frank Beetson was also in charge of technical management for Wayne's first directorial work, “Alamo” .

As a self-employed costume designer, Frank Beetson jr. rarely seen. These were mostly westerns, twice directed by former Wayne sponsor John Ford : Two rode together and Cheyenne . After his costume supervision in the science fiction television series Invasion von der Wega (1967), which ran late at night on ZDF in the early 1970s , Frank Beetson withdrew into private life.
