Frank Benatelli (born August 19, 1962 in Bochum ) is a German football coach of Italian descent and former football player .

Player career

Benatelli played in the A-youth and the amateur team of VfL Bochum before he made his debut in the Bundesliga in 1983 for the same club under coach Rolf Schafstall . He had to end his career in 1992 at the age of 28 as a sport disabled person due to an injury to the patellar tendon that he suffered in the 1991 encounter against Borussia Mönchengladbach, which was accompanied by the loss of function of the knee. Up to this point he had played a total of 192 Bundesliga games and scored 13 goals. Today he also plays for the traditional VfL team on the side.

Coaching career

Benatelli then worked as a soccer coach for SV Sodingen , Hasper SV , Blau Weiß Post Recklinghausen , Schwarz-Weiß Essen , SSV Hagen and as a match observer for Hertha BSC . From January 2006 he coached the upper division TuRU Düsseldorf , since the beginning of the 2009 season the Bochum regional division CSV Sportfreunde Bochum-Linden, which he led in the regional league in 2011 and in the regional league in 2012.

Benatelli has a daughter and a son. His son Rico is also a professional footballer.
