Frank Bernasko

Frank George Bernasko ( December 7, 1930 - June 3, 2010 ) was a Ghanaian military and politician. Under Ignatius Kutu Acheampong , he was involved in the 1972 military coup that overthrew the government of Kofi Abrefa Busia .

Bernasko had at the time of the coup the military rank of colonel ( Colonel ) held. In the government body of the military junta under Acheampong, the National Redemption Council , Bernasko held the office of Commissioner for Cocoa Affairs .

After the transition of the military government to a democracy in 1978, Bernasko took part as a candidate for the Action Congress Party in the presidential election of 1979 and was fourth of ten candidates in the first ballot behind William Ofori-Atta in third place, Victor Owusu and Hilla Limann , the later President of Ghana. Overall, Bernasko received 9.4 percent of the vote. The Action Party won 10 out of 140 seats in the National Assembly elections that same year.

Bernasko last lived in Great Britain.
