National Redemption Council

National Redemption Council (dt National Redemption Council ) was a military junta in the West African state of Ghana . The seizure of power came through a military coup against President Edward Akufo-Addo and Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia on January 13, 1972 under the direction of Ignatius Kutu Acheampong . The 1969 constitution was repealed and all political parties were banned.

Supreme Military Council

The National Salvation Council was subordinated to the newly formed Supreme Military Council as an executive body on October 9, 1975 as part of an administrative reform that began in 1974 .

The SMC was initially under the direction of Ignatius Kutu Acheampong .
