Chemogo Dodzil Benni

Chemogo Dodzil Benni (* 1941 ; † 1987 ) was a Ghanaian military and diplomat .

education

From 1960 to 1962 he studied at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun .

Career

From January 13, 1972 to October 9, 1975 he was Commissioner of Information in the National Redemption Council .

From October 9, 1975 to 1976 he was ambassador to Cairo . 1976–1978 he was ambassador to Monrovia . 1978–1982 he was ambassador in Lomé ( Togo ) and was also accredited in Porto-Novo ( Benin ). Until November 1994 he was the last Ghanaian ambassador to the Gnassingbé Eyadéma regime .

At the end of the 1980s under the government of the Provisional National Defense Council , there were public tribunals in Ghana in addition to ordinary courts. In 1985, the Theodore Atiedu and Felix Peasah cases were tried before them. In 1987, Attorney General and Attorney General George Emmanuel Kwesi Aikins revealed his vision of performance: “Even the most ardent opponents of the tribunal system occasionally petition for their cases to be brought before the public court when they have been disappointed by the negligent manner in which some ordinary courts use their cases deal. ”He announced a public tribunal against three people for improper property acquisitions in Accra . The suspects were Nyaho Tamakloe, a general practitioner; Dodzil Benni, retired colonel; as well as a farmer and Robert Kocouvie, a barrister-at-law. The injured party was Jürgen Heinel, a German businessman. Benny and Tamakloe were sentenced to eight years and five years probation against Kocouvie.

Individual evidence

  1. In March of that year, and again in January 1994, the Togo Government accused Ghana of supporting armed attacks on Eyadema's residence (see above). About 6,000 Ghanaians were reported to have taken refuge in Togo in February 1994, as a result of ethnic conflict in north-east Ghana. By late 1994 relations with Ghana had improved considerably, In November full diplomatic relations, suspended since 1982, were formally resumed with the appointment of a Ghanaian ambassador to Togo.
  2. Police Inspector Theodore Atiedu and Felix Peasah, a former Ghana special branch man now employed by the US embassy in Accra as a security investigator, appeared before separate public tribunals.
