Frank Blechschmidt

Frank Ludwig Blechschmidt (born March 25, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German local and state politician ( FDP ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Career

Blechschmidt studied law from 1980 to 1985 at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. This was followed by a one-year postgraduate course in English law "Diploma of English Legal Studies" at the University of Bristol . In July 1988 he received his doctorate in law and passed the second state examination in December 1989.

From 1992 until today he has worked as an independent lawyer in a law firm in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe . His professional focus is on labor law ( specialist lawyer for labor law since 1997). Blechschmidt has also been working as a notary since 2008 .

His political career began in 1979 when he joined the FDP. From 1986 to 2013 he was a member of the district assembly of the Hochtaunuskreis , where he has chaired the FDP parliamentary group since April 1997, and headed the main and finance committee there until the local elections in March 2011. From 1992 to 2000 he was chairman of the FDP district association Hochtaunus.

He stood as a candidate in the state elections in 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2013 constituency Hochtaunus I . After the state elections in January 2009, he moved into the Hessian state parliament as a member of the FDP state list. There he belongs to the parliamentary committee of the FDP parliamentary group. He was a member of the interior committee and chairman of the legal and integration committee of the Hessian state parliament. In March 2012 he was elected parliamentary manager of the FDP state parliamentary group. At the end of the 18th legislative period, Blechschmidt left the state parliament in January 2014. Due to the resignation of the previous parliamentary group leader Florian Rentsch , Blechschmidt moved back to the Hessian state parliament in June 2017.

Blechschmidt resigned his mandate on July 31, 2018. Stefan Müller was the successor .
