Frank Carnevale (born July 2, 1959 ) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player who was last under contract with EC Bad Nauheim in the 2013/14 season . His son Taylor Carnevale is also a hockey player.

Player career

Carnevale played for the Brown University ice hockey team in the NCAA between 1979 and 1983 . He then moved to the land of his ancestors, where he played one season (1983/84) for SG Cortina and two seasons (1984–1986) for HC Merano in the first division and at the end of his stay in Italy (1985/86) won the championship with HC Meran.

Coaching career

Carnevale's first position as head coach was in the 1988/89 season at the then third division club ERC Ingolstadt . In the 1991/92 season he coached in the Austrian National League playing EK Zell am See . In the 1993/94 season he was head coach at the Italian club EV Bruneck .

According to his own admission, his most beautiful coaching station was between December 1997 and February 1999 at EC Bad Nauheim , with whom he was runner-up in the second division in the 1997/98 season . Legendary in this tournament was his boxing match with Greg Poss , the coach of his opponent Iserlohner EC , in the third break of the second semi-final game.

Although his engagement in Bad Nauheim ended in February 1999, it remained unforgettable for him: “I've been coaching for 25 years now. But those 13 months back then - that was unique, something special. ”Most recently, Carnevale worked as a successful junior coach:“ Many players I had coached over the past few years are now playing in the NHL . ”He returned before the 2012/13 season Bad Nauheim back: "I just have the feeling that I still have to finish my work here." In 2013 he reached the championship in the ice hockey league with the club, but was already in the course of the following season (end of December 2013) fired. The reasons, however, lay less in the sporting than in the interpersonal area. Allegedly, the relationship with the management was just as bad as with part of the team.
