Frank Galati

Frank Joseph Galati (born November 29, 1943 in Highland Park , Illinois ) is an American theater director, actor and screenwriter.

Life

Galati is primarily active as a theater director and actor. So he staged a. a. the play The Pirate Queen and the musical Ragtime . He has been with the Steppenwolf Theater Company since 1986 . Galati also worked at Northwestern University .

For his participation in the script for the literary film The Travels of Mr. Leary Galati was nominated together with Lawrence Kasdan for the 1989 Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay . The following year the two received a nomination for the British Academy Film Awards in 1990 .

In 1990 Galati received the Tony Award for Best Play for his play The Grapes of Wrath . In 2001 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
