Frank Glover

Frank Glover (born June 27, 1963 in Indianapolis ) is an American jazz musician ( clarinet , saxophone ) and composer .

biography

Frank Glover has been part of the jazz scene in his hometown since the 1980s and was honored with the 1996 Jazz Performance Award of the National Endowment for the Arts for his services . He recorded a number of albums under his own name for the Owl Studios label, performs regularly at the Jazz Kitchen Club and Chatterbox áuf, u. a. long years with the pianist Claude Sifferlen . In 1996 he made guest appearances at New York's Carnegie Hall , as well as at the Chicago Jazz Festival and the Indy Jazz Fest. Glover is currently working with a quartet made up of Zach Lapidus , Jack Helsley and David Scalia.

His compositions include works for choir and symphony orchestra; his influences include Béla Bartók and Toru Takemitsu . His album Abacus is a larger work for jazz chamber ensemble and jazz quintet that is close to the Third Stream .

Glover lives in Indianapolis, where he works as a music educator and writer.
