Francis "Frank" Xhaviar Maher Jr. (born May 8, 1918 in Detroit , Michigan , † April 11, 1992 in Toledo , Ohio ) was an American American football player. He played one season on the position of the backs in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Maher played from 1937 to 1939 on the position of fullback for the Toledo Rockets at the University of Toledo College Football . He also ran the long jump and 100-meter run as a track and field athlete .

NFL

Maher was selected in the 1940 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles in the tenth round. However, he was not used until the 1941 season , where he completed two games each for the Cleveland Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers . He then fought as a soldier in World War II .
