Frank Pietruska (born September 11, 1970 in Magdeburg ) was a soccer goalkeeper who briefly played for 1. FC Magdeburg in the GDR Oberliga , the highest East German soccer class. He is a four-time junior national player of the GDR.

Athletic career

In 1978, Frank Pietruska joined the boys' team of the first division club 1. FC Magdeburg from the small company sports association progress Magdeburg. As a junior player, he played four international matches with the GDR junior national team. Although 1988/89 was still nominated for the junior league, Pietruska was in the last two league games of the GDR league season instead of the unfit Dirk Heyne in the goal of the first men's team. In the first game on May 27, 1989 he had to accept two goals against Chemie Halle in a 4-2 away win, in the last game on June 3, 1989 he was able to keep his box clean in a 1-0 against Rot-Weiß Erfurt. With the FCM junior team, he was East German champion in 1989. For the 1989/90 season, FCM Pietruska officially announced the third goalkeeper for its league team.

Pietruska, who was relatively small as a goalkeeper with only 1.72 m, was not used because Heyne was called up in all point games. The same thing happened in the 1990/91 season. During this season the 1. FCM missed the qualification for the national leagues and played in the NOFV-Oberliga from 1991/92 . Heyne left FCM, but Pietruska did not find the way for further appearances in the first team, as Andreas Narr, the previous goalkeeper, became the new number one. For this reason he left Magdeburg in 1991 and joined the FSV Lok / Altmark Stendal , where he was the goalkeeper. After two years in Stendal, he returned to FCM in 1993, where he played 28 point games within a year.

After the FCM missed qualification for the new regional league in the summer of 1994, Pietruska moved back to the third-class regional league team FSV Altmark Stendal. There he made headlines in his second season when he stood out as a penalty killer several times in the DFB Cup competition up to the quarter-finals against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (4-5 on penalties). When Stendal had to relegate from the regional league in 2000, Pietruska left the club and joined the fifth-rate club TSV Völpke . With him he rose in 2005 for a year in the league. After the end of the 2005/06 season, Pietruska ended his career as an active goalkeeper at the age of 36 and made himself available to TSV as goalkeeping coach.

Pietruska still lived in Magdeburg, where he operates a water dispenser and coffee machine rental. He is also active in sports at 1. FC Magdeburg, where he competes with the Old Star team.
