Frank Rösler

Frank Rösler (born January 29, 1945 in Dresden ) is a German psychologist .

Live and act

Frank Rösler studied psychology, philosophy and physiology at the University of Hamburg . He then worked as a research assistant at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel until 1983 , where he obtained his doctorate in the field of psychophysiology in 1976 and his habilitation in 1983 . During this time, research stays took him to Canada , Australia and the USA . In 1986 he was appointed to the chair for general and biological psychology at the Philipps University of Marburg . After his retirement in 2010, he was initially a senior professor at the University of Potsdam and has been a senior professor at the University of Hamburg since 2013 .

In his research he examines the biological basis of cognitive processes (especially memory and language) as well as neuroplasticity in acquired or congenital damage to the nervous system. He is one of the "pioneers of electrophysiological research into language comprehension processes". In addition to teaching, Frank Rösler was a long time member of the Senate and the Approval Committee for Collaborative Research Centers of the German Research Foundation . In 2001 he was accepted as a member of the Leopoldina - National Academy of Sciences and is currently a member of the Leopoldina Presidium.
