Frank Scheurell (born October 31, 1962 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

After graduating from the Polytechnic High School in 1979, Frank Scheurell trained as a roofer until 1981 and then studied structural engineering until 1986. Between 1986 and 1987 he was responsible for the technology in the housing combine at the Dessau company . Since 1987 he has been self-employed with a Wittenberg roofing business

Scheurell is Catholic and single.

Frank Scheurell joined the CDU in 1990. Since 1990 he has been a member of the Lutherstadt Wittenberg city ​​council and has been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there since 1991. In this context, Frank Scheurell is also a member of the drainage operations committee of Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

In the Mayor election on May 20, 2001, Scheurell ran for the office of Mayor of Wittenberg, but narrowly failed against the incumbent Eckhard Naumann (SPD).

In the state elections on April 21, 2002 Scheurell won the direct mandate in constituency 26 Wittenberg with 41.1% of the first votes and became a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . There he is a full member of the State Development and Transport Committee. He is also the transport policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.

In the state elections on March 26, 2006 , he again achieved the direct mandate with 41.9% of the first votes in the constituency 24 Wittenberg and thus the third best result of all direct candidates nationwide.

Scheurell ran again in the Mayor election on March 30, 2008 and achieved the second-best result with 27.9% of the votes behind incumbent Eckhard Naumann (41.4%), whom he won in the runoff election on April 13, 2008 with 40.0% the votes (compared to 60.0% for Naumann) again lost.

In the state election on March 20, 2011 , with 41.7 percent of the first votes, he again achieved the direct mandate in the constituency 24 Wittenberg and the third best result of all direct candidates nationwide.

In the state elections on March 13, 2016 , Frank Scheurell won the direct mandate in constituency 24 Wittenberg for the fourth time with 33.6 percent of the first votes .
