Frank Scholze

Frank Scholze (born March 6, 1968 in Stuttgart ) is a German librarian . He has been Director General of the German National Library since 2020 .

Life

Scholze studied librarianship at the Stuttgart Media University, as well as art history and English at the University of Stuttgart . He then worked in various projects in the field of digital libraries, as well as a specialist and head of the user department at the Stuttgart University Library . After two years in the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg , he took over the management of the KIT library on January 18, 2010 . In 2016 he was elected to the Federal Board of the German Library Association (dbv) and re-elected in 2019.

At the end of April 2019, the German National Library announced that Scholze would succeed Elisabeth Niggemann as future Director General . On December 13, 2019, he received the certificate of appointment with effect from January 1, 2020.
