Frank Spedding
Frank Spedding (born August 21, 1929 in Liverpool , † October 11, 2001 in Nottingham ) was a British composer and music theorist .
Life
Spedding grew up in Nottingham. He studied composition with Bernard Stevens , Reginald Owen Morris and William Lloyd Webber at the Royal College of Music and the University of London . He also received lessons from Ralph Vaughan Williams . He then did his military service in the Royal Air Force . He taught from 1958 to 1985 as the first Professor harmony and counterpoint at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. From 1981 he was director of the School of Music.
