Frank Stannard Gibbs

Sir Frank Stannard Gibbs KBE , CMG (born July 3, 1895 - † 1983 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Frank Stannard Gibbs joined the foreign service in 1920 and married Sylvia Madelaine in 1944. He became Vice Consul in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , on October 10, 1923 , where he served as Consul General from November 27, 1923 to July 13, 1924 and from June 16 to December 16, 1926 . He replaced Ernest William Meiklereid as Consul General in Saigon on July 2, 1947 . On July 2, 1951 he was replaced in this capacity by Hubert Aston Graves. Frank Stannard Gibbs was envoy to Manila , Philippines from 1951 to 1955 . As of August 31, 1954, the legation in Manila was upgraded to an embassy. He was retired in 1955 .
