List of British Ambassadors to the Philippines

The list of British ambassadors to the Philippines includes the diplomatic representatives of the Kingdom of Britain in the Philippine embassy in Manila from 1844 to the present (2012).

background

Until 1815 the Philippines belonged to the viceroyalty of New Spain . With galleons was from Acapulco silver brought to Manila, was purchased with the Chinese silk. During the Seven Years' War , from October 6, 1762 to March 1764, Manila was occupied by the British Indian Army . After Mexico gained independence , the Philippines became a direct colony of Spain and trade was liberalized. Since 2007 the ambassador to Manila has also been accredited to the Marshall Islands , Micronesia and Palau .
