Stephen Lillie

Stephen Lillie (born February 4, 1966 in Yorkshire ) is a British diplomat .

Life

Stephen Lillie graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Modern Languages in 1988 and entered the foreign service .

From 1988 to 1989 he was employed in the Middle East Desk (MED, Middle East Department ) of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office , where he was involved in the creation of Export License Applications (ELAs). The Iraqi Holding Technology Development Group acquired the British tool manufacturer Matrix Churchill to operate the Nassr and Hutteen State Mechanical State Industrial Works in Taji , Iraq, under the direction of Dr. Safa al Habobi manufacture machine tools for the armaments industry. In a report dated February 1, 1989, Lillie reported on the possibility of the tool manufacturer for dual use for the purpose of manufacturing gas centrifuges for uranium enrichment . Lillie was replaced on October 6, 1989 by Simon Sherrington as a clerk for Iran / Iraq.

Stephen Lillie studied Standard Chinese in Hong Kong from August 1990 to 1992 . In 2003 he was Consul General in Guangzhou . He headed the commercial department at the British High Commissioner (Commonwealth) in New Delhi .

From 2007 to 2008 Stephen Lillie headed the Far East Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office .

Since 2009 he has been ambassador to Manila .
