Frank Türkowsky

Frank Türkowsky (born April 14, 1959 in Görlitz ) is a former German functionary of the FDJ .

Life

Türkowsky was born in 1959 as the son of a musician in the Upper Lusatian district town of Görlitz. After attending the Polytechnic High School and Extended High School , he graduated from high school in 1977; since 1973 he was a member of the Free German Youth . After completing his military service in the National People's Army from 1977 to 1980, he worked as an instructor in the FDJ district leadership in Görlitz from 1980/81 before he - after a course at the SED district party school in Dresden (1981/82) - from 1982 to 1985 was its 1st secretary. In 1978 he became a member of the SED .

After completing his studies at the University of Education in Dresden (1985-88) as a graduate social scientist, he was 2nd secretary from 1988 and from August to November 1989 as successor to Christine Feiks 1st secretary of the FDJ district management in Dresden . In November 1989 he succeeded Eberhard Aurich as first secretary of the Central Council of the FDJ , a position that he held until the congress on January 27 and 28, 1990 in Brandenburg to form a new socialist youth association, on which the 25th year old Birgit Schröder was elected as the new FDJ chairwoman. He then worked in the Dresden district leadership of the SED-PDS until 1992 , before retiring entirely from politics.

Frank Türkowsky is married, has two children and is currently an independent entrepreneur in the insurance industry in Görlitz.
