Frank Teufel (* 1966 in Tuttlingen ) is a contemporary German sculptor .

life and work

Teufel completed an apprenticeship as a stone sculptor from 1984 to 1987 . In 1993 he graduated from the master school for stonemasons and stone sculptors in Mainz with the title of master. From 1996 to 1999 he completed his studies at the Academy for Design in Ulm .

Teufel works primarily with stone. Works that are clearly reduced to lines reflect his own formal language. The process of creating his sculptures begins with linear drawings. It is in these lines that his ideas take on their first form, and the three-dimensional implementation becomes "tangible" in perspective. Its clearly abstracted spatial lines deal with the themes of "relationship" and "movement". They often consist of two elements that flow towards or away from each other. In the stone they form an inseparable, tension-charged connection. In their all-round view, the sculptures open up the most varied perspectives and surprising spatial effects. Teufel partially leaves the traces of the work process. In order to allow the viewer his own interpretation, Teufel refrains from assigning specific titles.

Teufel has been a member of the Association of Freelance Sculptors Baden-Württemberg since 2008.
